This is the piece that welcomes the visitor into the exhibition space and helps put them in the proper frame of mind for viewing the remaining selections. It's a grand gesture of modest scale. Representative of the artist's doodlesque style, each mark is actually highly considered. We are unquestionably looking at the first spiral by virtue of the simple fact that it was Tuttle's first spiral.
